Jiří Danihlík (born 1986) graduated master studies from Biochemistry in Faculty of Science, Palacký University Olomouc in 2011 and in 2015 he finished his PhD also in Biochemistry. His research is focused on bee immunity especially antimicrobial peptides since his bachelor studies. He has been developing methods for detection and quantification bee antimicrobial peptides and studying differences in peptide level in bees. He is interested in methods like chromatography, mass spectrometry, real-time polymerase chain reaction and microbiology methods. He spent one month at SLU in Uppsala in 2012 (Sweden), two months at Lund University in 2013 (Sweden) and he cooperates with Karl-Franzens University in Graz (Austria) since 2014. Jiří Danihlík is the Czech national coordinator for the core project Colony Losses Monitoring of the association COLOSS. He is also a queen breeder and he teaches courses and lectures for beekeepers focused on honey bee pathology and good beekeeping practise, especially Varroa treatment and American foulbrood prevention. He has been keeping about 60 colonies in 3 apiaries in Valašské Meziříčí in the eastern part of the Czech Republic.
